“Huck It, It’s Hot” Hat Tourney

Ready for a mid-summer’s night ultimate celebration? After the successful hat tournament last summer, we had to do it again. Come down to the League City Sportsplex to enjoy the ultimate activities at the 2nd Annual Summer Hat Tourney. Proceeds will help fund Texas’ Doublewide on their trip to Perth, Australia to compete at the 2006 WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships!

- August 12, 2006 (Saturday)
- League City Sportsplex (I-45 south, Exit 22) (Link is not exact but very close. You’ll notice a red-roofed pavillion to the southwest of the google map marker. The fields are just south of the adjacent parking lot.)
- $15 online registration (paypal to treasurer@houstonultimate.org)
- or $20 registration at tournament
- Buddy system in effect for sign-up
- Hat rules will apply \nDave & Lynn Edwards\’ House. Very close to the fields.\n
- PLEASE BRING A RED & WHITE SHIRT. Teams will decide on shirt color before each game.

Schedule:
2pm - Set Up (volunteers welcome)
3pm - Late Registration (very important, be on time)\n
- 3 hats based on experience/ability
4-7pm - Pool Play (3 games)
7-8pm – Food (Disc Olympics/HUC Hall)
8-10pm - Semis/Finals under the lights!

Ella, a good friend, recently emailed me wanting to inform the community that News 8 Austin will be running a story on the local Ultimate community, specifically Riverside. The segment will run on their “Fit for Friday” portion of the show today, May 12, 2006. Click here to read the article that will coincide with the airing. Ella says that as the day goes on, hopefully they will add the video to the web site.

For anyone interested in watching some good Ultimate next week LiveLogic is sponsoring a tournament at the IM Fields between some of the best club teams in the nation. The tournament is on Saturday and Sunday, May 13 & 14, 2006 but you can come out early and watch the two showcase games. The LiveLogic website quotes:

“This year, the LiveLogic Texas Shootout will feature two opening games on Friday May 12 at House Park Stadium! At 6:30 PM we will feature the AISD High School All-Stars and at 8:00 PM we will feature Doublewide of Austin vs Dallas United in the Battle of Texas. We will have a prize giveaway for AISD students at halftime of the Battle of Texas where AISD students will have the chance to win an authentic Doublewide players jersey and other prizes. We would like to thank AISD for allowing us to use such a beautiful facility as House Park Stadium. Admission is free.”
